Irvon Steel, a steel processor in the UK’s West Midlands has just commissioned a new 8200 x 15mm shear. The machine from Adira in Portugal is said to be the largest in the United Kingdom, cutting up to 12000 x 15mm.
Managing director Andy Kimberley tells Steel Business Briefing “the new shear has a unique torsion control that enables the machine to cut narrow strip without twist. This will allow us to custom make flat bars of any size and hopefully enter new markets.” He adds that Irvon would also hoped to be taking on more free issue work from other processors.
Irvon, which has been trading for 20 years, operates from a 1.5 acre site in Dudley. It currently delivers throughout the United Kingdom, France and Ireland.
