UK steel plate processing specialists Irvon Press & Shear, (formerly Irvon Steel) based in Ettingshall, West Midlands, continues to invest strongly in new plant and equipment following the recent relocation from its former site in Dudley. The new site has 2 acres (6,690 square metres) of covered working and storage area.

The company, which specialises in pressing, bending, shearing and cutting of plate from 0.9mm to 50mm thickness and in lengths of up to 12 metres, has just invested in a new 12 metre 1,200-tonne press brake and 12-metre plasma cutting machine.

Managing director Andy Kimberley tells Steel Business Briefing that investment so far in 2006 has totalled £2.5m (€3.6m). The press brake, supplied by Adira in Portugal, is said by Irvon to be the largest and most accurate of its type in the UK and complements the 8200 x 15mm shear also bought from Adira in 2004 as previously reported.
