Wear Resistant & Armour Steels
- Armox & Ramor protection plate
- Hardox & Raex wear plate
- Hardenable Boron Steel
At Irvon we can call on many years experience in the cutting and bending of wear and surface pressure resistant steel plates.
It is not just that these steels require extreme force to bend. Much care needs to be taken in selecting the correct tooling in order that the material does not crack and the widest possible bending radius should always be used.
Any plate that has been stored outside must be allowed to warm up to room temperature before forming and special care should always be taken when bending hardened steel plates.
When bending any hardened steel plate it is important to allow for the increased springback, sometimes as much as 20%. This not only requires extra force but also the correct tooling to allow for the initial overbend.
Recently we were pleased and proud to be able to cut and bend some Armox® that was being used to protect some of the fighting vehicles out in Afghanistan.
At Irvon we roll and form funnels and cylinders from both Hardox® and Raex® wear plate that is used in both mining equipment and the wearing parts of concrete processing plant.
No other UK plate processor has our experience or capabilities when bending hardened steel plate.
