We can easily shear lengths up to 8.2 metres in a range of thicknesses from 0.9mm up to 13mm depending on what is being cut.

The machines are programmed according to the type of material being cut, the tensile strength and the thickness. The CNC control then optimises the blade gap and rake angle of the blade to give the best cut quality. It also increases accuracy because a good cut will pull in the machine less. To save time and therefore reduce costs only the length of the component is cut each time. So, should we need to cut a part 4 metres in length it will only take half the time of the full 8 metre cut.

A unique torsion control feature is employed when cutting long and narrow strips. This supports both sides of the cut preventing twist, even on narrow strips and means that we can produce sheared edge flats in unusual grades and non standard sizes or lengths.

With such large pieces of metal it is important that is it is handled safely, and without scratching or contaminating stainless steels. We have a range of specialist lifting equipment for this purpose.
