Hardox & Armox Cutting and Bending

Chamfering and weld prepping of Hardox® & Armox® on our bevel laser complements years of experience in press braking and rolling these special materials

Here at Irvon, our unique machinery has always made us ideal for working on Hardox and other specialist wear and corrosion-resistant materials. These materials require particular attention and experience, but we have a track record of producing parts that nobody else can. Whether you need long pressed sections, rolled Hardox cylinders and sweeps or precision laser cut profiles with weld preps, holes and countersinking, we have staff experienced in their production.

Drilling, countersinking and grinding Hardox is particularly demanding. Many of these common processes that work on traditional steel cannot be done on Hardox, take much more time, or can only be done in a much more limited fashion. Our most recent investment in fibre laser and beveling technology takes the headache out of these tasks. Hardox parts can be cut up to 50mm thick and up to 12m x 3m in size. The laser head will also tilt to cut any common chamfers and weld preps onto the edges of the part, cut countersunk holes by rotating and cut small holes that wouldn’t normally be possible without drilling. For example, it will cut good quality 5mm diameter holes in 40mm thick Hardox. Through our own in-house development, we have programs for all thicknesses that cut with low heat and won’t affect the base properties of the Hardox material.

We also have excellent relationships with producers both here and in Europe, enabling us to offer fast deliveries as needed.

  • Pressed sections up to 12m long, such as lorry floors and sides or digger buckets
  • Rolled cans, thick or thin, such as aggregate drums
  • Countersunk holes to hide screw heads (otherwise they would wear out)
  • Small holes to avoid drilling
  • Chamfers and weld preps for joining, done without need for grinding or expensive machining
  • Hardox & Raex wear plate
  • Armox & Ramor protection plate
  • Lorry floors, sides and V-pans
  • Digger buckets and storage containers
  • Aggregate drums, sorters and mixers
